Anyone with at least a bit of interest in basketball knows that when it comes to athletic achievements, NBA is head and shoulders above the rest. NBA rosters year after year gather the best players on the planet, and it is every boy’s dream (from the moment he picks up the ball) to play in the NBA. It is not strange that even the 3-pointer line is a bit further in this league than in the rest of the world. Furthermore, some of the best dunks in the history of the game were made in this league. Here are seven of them that we deem as the best of all time.

  1. LeBron James

First place on this list goes to LeBron James and  his versus the Dallas Mavericks in 2008. Basketball is a team sport, but when the opposite side has a player that is able to dunk alone against four of his opponents there is a serious problem. It is a rumor that it was precisely this dunk that motivated the German prodigy, Dirk Nowitzki, to take his vengeance in 2012 finals. Be as it may, both this game and this move more than deserve the first spot on the list.

  1. Kobe Bryant

The truth is that Kobe Bryant is one of the best showmen in this sport, no question about it. During his career, he managed to completely polarize the audience. Some people completely hate and dispute him, yet some believe him to be the best that ever was; there is no middle ground. Still, his talent is undeniable and this can be best seen from his reverse dunk vs. Wolves in 2003. Anyone who witnessed this piece-of-art dunk, left the hall assured of Kobe’s mastery of the game, never to doubt him again.

  1. Michael Jordan

When you start speaking about anything best in the NBA, you simply have to include Michael Jordan. However, just making a list of 7 best dunks by Jordan would not be a simple task, let alone singling out just one. Luckily, where there is a will there is a way. After careful consideration, we made up our mind for the dunk in the 1991 Playoffs vs. the Knicks. What needs to be separated here is not Jordan’s power or control of the ball, but the aura of superiority you can see in his every move that leaves the defense of the Knicks completely powerless in his presence.

  1. Scottie Pippen

Carrying on with yet another Bull, and one of the most renowned Jordan’s team mates, Scottie Pippen is nothing short of a legend in this sport. There are some dunks that are worthy of talking about for months or even years, but Scottie Pippen’s annihilation of Patrick Ewing is something that has been talked about for over two decades now. Although, some claim that this dunk (spectacular as it is) would not be so special without the beef between two players from earlier on. Be as it may, this list just couldn’t leave out what some call ‘the dunk of the century’.

  1. Blake Griffin

Even though it may be true that there are better players than Blake Griffin in the NBA, when it comes to the art of dunking, he is the undisputed sovereign of the court. Every game that Griffin plays is guaranteed to have jaw dropping dunks, so get you and your friends some tickets for the next LA Clippers game. If you are still not convinced, just take a look at Griffin’s destruction of Kendrick Perkins in 2012. You will see that he is not merely a player; Blake Griffin is a force of nature.

  1. Russell Westbrook

Carrying on with 2012 dunks, right after Griffin (some would even say before him), comes Russell Westbrook with his amazing dunk in the last quarter of the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Many claim this move to be the best dunk of the year, while some go as far as to claim that it is the single best dunk of all time. Only history will tell which is true.

  1. Tracy McGrady

It would simply be unfair not to include an Alley Oop on this list, since it is after all the most popular move in the entire sport. However, what separates McGrady’s Alley Oop from all the rest is the fact that he can do it completely on his own. If there is one thing that nobody wants to face in any team sport, is a one man army. Tracy McGrady has proven this while representing the Eastern Conference in distant 2002.

Every single one of these dunks is a triumph of the human body, and we are lucky to reveal the magnificence of their sight. Still, history is made even today, so don’t miss your opportunity to roar after witnessing move that will be worthy of the list. It will be something that you will never forget, and something you will be able to brag about for years to come.
